Getting Started
AutoMinutes is a native macOS app that turns meeting audio into structured minutes — entirely on your device.
Requirements
- macOS 12.0 or later
- Sufficient disk space for on-device models (typically several GB for speech + language models)
- Microphone permission (for live recording)
Install
Download AutoMinutes from the Mac App Store, then open the app from Applications.
On first launch, the app may prompt you to download required models (Whisper for transcription and a language model for minutes). Wait for downloads to finish before starting your first meeting — recording is disabled while models are downloading.
Your first meeting
1. Open the home screen
The main screen has three areas:
- Center — Start/stop recording and view live transcript + minutes
- Settings drawer — Speech model, language model, meeting mode, and generation parameters
- Bottom — Supplement box to refine minutes after generation
2. Configure (optional)
Open Settings on the home screen:

| Meeting mode | When on, output is optimized for meeting-style summaries |
| Main language | Auto, English, or Chinese for transcription |
| Speech model | Whisper variant (accuracy vs. speed) |
| Language model | Qwen2.5 (strong CN/EN), Llama 3, Gemma, or Yi |
| Temperature / Top P / Top K / Max length | Control creativity and output length |
Changes are saved automatically to local storage.
3. Record
- Click the record control to start.
- Speak naturally — the app streams Whisper transcription, then LLM minutes into the panel.
- Use the toolbar to stop recording when finished.
4. Review and export
- Switch between Minutes and Original text tabs.
- From History, open any past meeting and export:
- Minutes text
- Speech (transcript) text
- Speech audio
5. Refine with supplements
After minutes are generated, type additional context or Import File (.txt, .md, .html, .docx) and submit to extend or correct the summary.
Manage models
Go to Settings → Models in the sidebar to:
- Download speech and language models
- Delete models to free disk space
- View model size and status
Models are stored under the app’s local data directory and are never uploaded.
Appearance & language
In Settings → Appearance, switch between light and dark themes.
In Settings → General, change the UI language (English, 简体中文, 繁體中文, 日本語, 한국어, and more).

AutoMinutes does not collect or transmit your meeting data. See the Privacy Policy for details.
